 It could not have been a better start for North Clay versus Woodlawn Friday night in the Class 1A Regional Championship game...however, the ending was not what the Cardinals from Louisville wanted in the finals played at South Central High School, in Farina.

 

After taking a 15-6 lead after one quarter, and led by 10 points early in the second, North Clay was the victim of a 23 point second quarter explosion by Woodlawn, giving the latter a 29-25 halftime lead. Then, Woodlawn clamped down on the North Clay offense in the second half, and the perennial state powerhouse went on for a 51-36 victory in winning the 2010 Regional crown.

 

Colton Bailey led North Clay with 17 points, including three three-pointers.  Dawson Verhines led Woodlawn with 22 points.

 

North Clay played without starting junior forward and No. 2 scorer on the season Andrew Grahn, who sat out Friday's contest after suffering an ankle injury in Thursday's semifinal game versus Odin.
