  • Veterans Day was a holiday at CCHS, but veterans were honored officially on November 12 during an afternoon assembly coordinated by FFA advisor, Jennifer Staley.  
    Members of the American Legion Post #840 were invited to take part in the program and afterwards attend a reception coordinated by FCCLA advisor Cheryl McCarty in the FCS room.
    The assembly began with the presentation of Colors by members of the American Legion Post #840 followed with an address by Superintendent James Jones.  
    Lauren Lybarger, ’12, presented her Voice of Democracy essay, and Haley Sharp, ’13, read Megan Kessler’s, ’12, Voice of Democracy essay.  
    The Clay City junior high and elementary chorus students performed patriotic songs under the direction of Mrs. Jean Pittman.  
    Nathan Dulaney read a letter written by Mr. James Cambron to his mother Maggie on Christmas Day in 1944 while he was stationed in France.  
    The program concluded with a flag folding by FFA members Katie Ford, ‘11, Taylor Hopson, ‘11, Andy Kessler, ‘14, and Will Klingler, ’12, Kendra Courson, ’11, and Cassie Lybarger, ‘11.
