A larger than usual crowd was present to recognize the achievements of the high honors students, Illinois State Scholars, the Flora Scholastic Team as well as retiring teachers and support staff.
The meal was served by Mike’s Market.
Special recognition awards were given. The Individual Award went to Mitzi Goldstein, who has donated so much of her time and talents to the betterment of academic achievement.
The Business Award was presented to Flora Bank and Trust for their continued monetary support of the Academic Foundation as a whole and especially the Scholarship Fair by having a drawing and donating a scholarship to an attendee of the Fair.
“Flora Academic Foundation is governed by a 18 member board but it is the contributions of the community, individuals and businesses that make it a success,” said FAF President Bill Atwood.
“We are looking forward now to Senior Awards Day, May 9, at 8:30 am in the High School auditorium.  Scholarships given in the name of loved ones, businesses and individuals will be awarded to Flora Seniors that morning,” Atwood went on. “It is a special time.”
