Flora Community Unit School District #35 will begin classes on Monday, August 20. This will be a full attendance day for the students. Students should report to their assigned building at the regularly scheduled time. Buses will pick up students at the regular times listed on the school bus routes, this information will be available at Central Registration. If you have any questions concerning bus transportation, please contact the Transportation Department at 662-4272.
Flora C.U.S.D #35 will once again have a district-wide Central Registration for all students. This process helps eliminate parents/guardians from enrolling their children at more than one attendance center and completing multiple registration forms
The Central Registration site will be at the Flora High School on the following dates/times: Wednesday, August 1 at 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. And Thursday, August 2 at 1 to 7 p.m.
Students will register, pay fees, and receive class assignments. School supply lists are posted on our web page and will also be available at Central Registration. Please have the following information available at the time of registration to expedite the process:
Child’s social security number,
Medicaid number (if applicable),
New students to the district and students in need of boosters must show evidence of immunizations,
Sixth grade and freshman students must show evidence of having received a Tdap vaccine if they have not previously done so,
Pre-K and Kindergarten and other new students need a certified birth certificate,
Pre-K and Kindergarten for the first time need lead screening verification,
Pre-K, Kindergarten, sixth grade, freshman and new students from out-of-state are required to have completed health exam form,
Children entering school for the first time beginning with Kindergarten including new students entering Illinois for the first time are required to have a vision examination by an eye doctor by October 15,
Students in Kindergarten, second and sixth grade are required to have a dental examination by a dentist by May 15.
Freshmen orientation will be on Thursday, August 9 at 7 p.m. At Flora High School. All freshmen students should attend this informational meeting.
Floyd Henson Junior High School will have a 6th grade parent/student orientation on Thursday, August 9 at 6 p.m. At FHJHS. We encourage parents and 6th grade students to attend and become familiar with the building and their daily operations.

Page 2 of 2 - School-time accident insurance will again be furnished by the district. This coverage is for school-time activities, practices, and interscholastic competitions, An optional 24 hour coverage insurance plan will also be available for parents to purchase.
All students planning on participating in athletics this school year need to attend an information meeting on Tuesday, July 31 at 7 p.m. At the High School in the Auditorium. It is extremely important that the parents and student athletes attend this informational meeting.
Flora High School senior yearbook portraits will be taken at Johnson’s Photography. Dates and times will be announced after the school year begins. Please do not have other photographers send pictures to the school for use in the school yearbook.
Photos for the senior class composite and all other Flora High School individual pictures will be taken during the school day on Thursday, August 23.
Elementary student school pictures will be taken on Monday, October 15, 2012.
Junior High school pictures will be taken on Wednesday, October 24, 2012.
