The Summer Reading Program of the Flora Public Library is called “Books are Sooooo Delicious,” and as part of that program, area children got to really take a bite when a favorite character, Clifford the Big Red Dog, came to visit the Library and his fans Thursday night.
Clifford was at the Library as part of Scholastic Week, which also featured a Scholastic Book Fair, and two performances of the acclaimed Patrice Heiken Puppet Show.
Clifford took a seat in the center of the library where youngsters could come and talk with him, sit for pictures, and in the case of youngster Korbin Doty, give the Big Red Dog a big old hug.
Events like this are making for a successful summer reading program, according to chief librarian Donna Corry.
“We’ve had a lot of participation,” said Corry. “There were a lot of people here for Patrice Heiken and for Clifford, so we’re having a good week.”
“And” said Corry looking out at the kids crowding for their chance to meet Clifford, “The kids are having fun.”
The final program of the Summer Reading Program promises to be an explosive one as Nitro Joe will be presenting his Science Show this Thursday, July 19, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
