NCC Wildcats Defeat Fairfield 8 - 7
Clay City - The Noble-Clay City Wildcats defeated the Fairfield Mules by the score of 8 - 7 on Monday, May 5th.
After Fairfield jumped out to an early lead of 2 - 0 in the top of the first inning, the NCC Wildcats came right back to tie the score at 2 - 2 in the bottom of the first. The Wildcats held the Mules scoreless through the top of the fifth inning, while scoring two run in the second inning bringing the score to 4 - 2 Wildcats.
Fairfield scored three runs in the top of the fifth making it 5 - 4 in the middle of five. The NCC Wildcats gathered themselves and scored one run in the fifth to tie the score at 5 - 5.
The Mules took the lead in the top of the sixth by scoring one run and then one more run in the top of the seventh. The Wildcats did not score in the sixth and in the bottom of the seventh it was their last chance. The NCC Wildcats gathered two hits and scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to win the game by the score of 8 -7.
The winning pitcher for the Wildcats was Dustin Lamb, while taking the loss for Fairfield was Barrett.
