  • Clay City/ Noble - The Noble-Clay City Wildcats and Lady Wildcats take the first game of the MTC Tournament, the Wildcats defeating Wayne City by the score of 12 - 2 in five innings and the Lady Wildcats defeating Grayville by the score of 12 - 2 in five innings.
    NCC Wildcats:
    The Noble-Clay City Wildcats jumped out to an early lead on Monday, May 9th afternoon scoring seven runs  on two hits in the bottom of the second inning to give the NCC Wildcats a 7 - 0 lead.
    The Wildcats played good defense in the field as well as had good pitching from their pitcher Blake Lamb. The Wildcats pitcher Blake Lamb, gave up two runs (two ER), off three hits in three and half innings pitched. One of those hit was a home-run by Green in the top of the fourth inning.
    The Wildcats scored one run in the third, two runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning for a total of 12 runs. The two runs that Wayne City scored were their only two of the game in the top of the fourth.
    The winning pitcher for the NCC Wildcats was Blake Lamb.Taking the loss for Wayne City was Willet.
    NCC Wildcats Hitting:
    Aaron Beck 2-for-2, two runs scored, two RBIs; Collin Klingler 2-for-3, three RBIs, SAC, (Tyler Beck - CR- two runs scored); Lamb 1-for-2, two RBIs, SAC; Jon Ausbrook 2-for-3, run scored, two RBIs; Quentin Klingler 1-for-3, two runs scored, RBI; Marcus Jones 1-for-2, two runs scored; Noah Wilkin 1-for-2, run scored; Ben Baker two runs scored, RBI.
    The NCC Wildcats are scheduled to play their next game Tuesday, May 13th versus Webber Township at Webber. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. weather permitting.
    NCC Lady Wildcats:
    The Noble-Clay City Lady Wildcats hosted Grayville in their first game of the MTC Tournament at Noble. The Lady Bisons jumped out to an early lead of 2 - 0 after two innings of play, however in the third inning the bats came alive for the Lady Wildcats.
    The Lady Wildcats scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning as Sarah Weiler's double drove in two runs for the Lady Wildcats plating Dani Hawkins and Mariah Bennett. Noble-Clay City was not done as they scored six more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Lady Wildcats held the Lady Bisons scoreless from the top of the third through the top of the fifth inning.
    Noble-Clay City needed just two more runs to end the game early and that they did by scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth to secure their first game win in the MTC Tournament by the score of 12 - 2.
    The winning pitcher for the NCC Lady Wildcats was Darcie Hawkins throwing a complete game with 81 total pitches, 53 of those being strikes. Taking the loss for the Lady Bisons was Putman.

    The Lady Wildcats next game is scheduled for May 13th at 4:30 in Noble versus Woodlawn (weather permitting).
