If you walked into Clay City Elementary on March 5, you might think you entered a time warp because the 3rd-5th grade teachers dressed up like people from the 1980’s.

Why, you might ask, would anyone want to go back to the 80’s?  Every time students read 100 books, the children vote on an activity for the teachers to do, such as singing a song, dancing, or dressing up.

As of March 5 the students have read a whopping 500 books.

Proposed future activities include pajama day and dress as a literary character day. The children enjoy the activities, and they learn to love books and reading more.

As a bonus, students learn the importance of every American’s civic duty, voting.
