Stroke Detection Plus, a mobile ultrasound service is coming to Flora to do stroke and vascular screenings. Stroke Detection Plus scans the carotid arteries in your neck.
By taking pictures and measurements to look for blockage that could lead to a stroke, 75 percent of strokes could be detected before something serious occurs.
They also screen for abdominal aortic aneurysm. This screening visualizes the existence of an aneurysm in the abdominal aorta that can rupture and be fatal.
A third screening is for peripheral vascular disease, blockage in the arms and legs. An abnormal result here puts a participant at a four to six times greater risk for coronary artery disease.
They are also offering Osteoporosis tests, which check for abnormal bone mass density in men and women.
All tests are pain free and non invasive. Stroke Detection Plus will be at the Flora Public Library, 216 North Main Street, on Tuesday, December 1st from 9:00-4:30.

See You At The Pole was this Wednesday, Sept. 23rd. This event happened through out the whole nation. SYATP started with a small group of teenagers in Burleson, Texas, who came together for a weekend in early 1990 for a program called DiscipleNow. On Saturday night God touched there hearts deeply. Compelled to pray, they drove to three different schools that night. With no intended direction, they went to the school flagpoles and prayed for their friends, schools, and leaders. From this small pebble drop, ripples spread out across the country. In 1990 over 45,000 students in 4 different states met at flagpoles to pray before the start of school. In 1998, over 3 million students in all 50 states and over 20 other countries met for SYATP.
Quote of the week comes from Mary Manin Morrissey, who said
“You block your dream when you allow your fear to grow bigger than your faith.”
