Chief John Nicholson releases the following information:
Dec. 18 through Jan. 3 the Flora Police Department participated in the Illinois Department of Transportation’s “You Drink & Drive. You Lose!” campaign.
Funds were provided to the City of Flora by Federal Traffic Safety Funds through the IDOT’s Division of Traffic Safety and is part of the on-going state wide campaign of “You Drink and Drive. You Lose!”
Extra emphasis was given to the late-night hours when statistics show the most people drink and drive and the fewest buckle up.
This is part of a nationwide effort to save lives by removing impaired and other unsafe drivers from the roadways during the holiday seasons.
The following tickets were issued:
Total Traffic Tickets – 31 of which 4 DUI’s
6 for Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicles
6 Fugitives Apprehended
6 Criminal arrests made
