The Flora City Council met on Tuesday afternoon, January 3, at 4:30 p.m. for their first regular meeting of the New Year. The meeting was held on Tuesday instead of Monday due to the office being closed Monday for New Years.
The meeting kicked off with Michael Snyder of the Flora Police Department being sworn in as the Department’s Sergeant. Snyder’s appointment was approved by the council at the last meeting.
Along with regular consent agenda items, the Board also approved the acceptance of the reports from the Police and the Building Official for the calendar year of 2011.
The Board approved the re-appointment of Mandy Hargis, Jack Thatcher and Herb Henson Jr. to the Flora Industrial Commission for a three year term.
In a non-action item, City Administrator Randy Bukas said that the City had received an income tax payment from the State of Illinois, but that the payment was approximately $10,000 less than the same one last year. Bukas also said that at this point, the State of Illinois is approximately $118,000 behind on payments to the City.
The City accepted a low bid from Hodges Fence Erectors in the amount of $9,425 for fence installation at the former Jenmar site.
The City Council then approved a motion to enter into closed session.
