Cleotis W. Scott, 82, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday at 3:55 a.m. at the home of his sister in Xenia.

Cleotis was born in Orchardville on September 18, 1926 to William and Myrtle (Burkett) Scott.
Mr. Scott was a farmer and was formerly employed at Valley Steel and Southwire. He also did construction. Cleotis was a member of Orchardville Community Church.

Cleotis is survived by his son, Gail Scott of Springfield and his sisters, Nora Henson and husband Gerome of Johnsonville and Elsie McCormick of Xenia. Cleotis is also survived by five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Cleotis Scott was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Richard Scott; his sister, Eva Brown and an infant brother.

Graveside services for Mr. Scott are being held on Friday, June 12 at New Church Cemetery in Orchardville. Pastor Mark Shell will be officiating; interment will be at the same location. There will be no visitation. Frank and Bright will be in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Clay County Hospice. An online guestbook is available at www.frankandbright.com
