The Flora City Council met for a short regular meeting on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
“Sure has been some beautiful weather lately,” said flora Mayor Bob Tackitt, “Hasn’t it?”
Tackitt also read a proclamation he signed on lawsuit abuse awareness week, October 10 through 16, saying that Illinois was the frivolous lawsuit capitol of the midwest.
In their consent agenda, the Council approved an ordinance approving an agreement between the city of Flora and GRR Construction, Inc. for the Worthey Street water main replacement and another for a sidewalk replacement contract with Luttrell Backhoe.
The council approved a payment of $3,120.63 to BHM&G for general engineering services.
Approval was also give to the bid from Wayne’s Tree Service of Lawrenceville for the Worthey Street tree project, including cutting, trimming, grinding stumps, cleanup and fill dirt in the amount of $25,150.
Superintendent of Public Services Toby Rinehart asked the Council to approve going for bids for sampling of the City’s wastewater, soil and landfill groundwater. Seeking bids for fuel has been postponed.
The Board approved the IDOT Obligation Retirement Resolution relating to principal and interest payments for the years 2012 and 2013.
The council also approved a speed limit of 40 miles per hour on Camelia Road to North Avenue, brought before them by Assistant Chief of Police Geb Borders.
Economic Development Director Dan Sulsberger told the Board that he would be representing a facade grant application from within the TIF district at the next council meeting.
City Clerk Yvonne Guinn told the council that the elementary schools would be having their farm safety day at Charley Brown Park Tuesday.
