The Clay City Village Board held their monthly meeting this Tuesday evening; the agenda was short enough that only two items of new business were voted on.

The Board approved renewal of the Village’s boiler and machinery insurance with R.W. Troxell and Company for $3,341.

Also approved was a $100 donation to the Clay City High School Post Prom Committee.

Clay City Mayor Trevor Bissey discussed  problems with the State of Illinois’ finances, also saying that the village’s revenue is currently down by 15 to 20-percent.

Engineer Mike Bridges spoke t the Board about the continuing odyssey of the inspection and later, possible replacement, of sanitary sewer lines. Work will continue as weather permits.

Village attorney Gary Bright spoke to the Board about contract renewal with Ameren CIPS. The Board considered different contract lengths, but took no action.

The other issue Bright addressed was the Village’s continued negotiations with E.J. Water. The Board did not vote on this issue either.
