Irma Irene Knowles, 84, of Sailor Springs, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at 5:58 a.m. at Clay County Hospital in Flora.
Irma was born on June 20, 1925, in Clay County, to Ralph Wattles and Velma (Grove) Wattles; both of whom preceded her in death. On November 21, 1942, she was married to Billie H. Knowles in Ingraham; he preceded her in death on March, 27, 2004. Before retirement, Irma worked in food service for United Airlines. She was a member of Ingraham Baptist Church.
Irma is survived by her son, Frankie A. Knowles of Sailor Springs; daughter Jean Ann Pelzer of Griswold, Iowa; sisters, Betty Ireland of Magnolia, Del.; Mary Smith of Champaign, Ill. and Merle Hosick of River Grove, Ill. She is also survived by three grandchildren, and Barbara Irene Lubkeman of Lewis, Iowa; Ben A. Lubkeman of Albuquerque, N.M. and Darrell James Knowles of Los Angeles, Calif.
Preceding Irma in death were her parents, her husband, six brothers, three sisters, infant sons Lee and Larry Knowles and son-in-law Basil L. Pelzer.
Services for Irma Irene Knowles will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Neal Funeral Home in Louisville at 10:30 a.m. Bro. Tim Schnautz will be officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in Louisville. Memorials may be made to the Louisville American Legion.
