Flora’s winter wonderland is not just due to all of the weekend snowfall. It also was a Winter Wonderland at Flora High School this Saturday night where the annual Sweetheart Dance was held and saw Brittany Booth and Mychal Bush-King elected Sweetheart Queen and King, respectively.
The dance was held on Saturday evening, starting at 7 p.m. At 9:45 p.m., doors opened to the public to watch a 10 p.m. coronation.
The Sweetheart Court consisted of Senior King and Queen Candidates, Brittany Booth, Pierson Boose, Jamie Kennedy, Mychal Bush-King, Morgan Lane, Kyle Golden, Anna Smith, and Bryton Krutsinger; Junior Attendants, Courtney Blanchard, Austin Lewis, Heather Hamilton, Trent Tackitt, Stephanie Macarthy, and Brent Taylor; Sophomore Attendants, Mychal Atwood, John Howe, Cassie Kennedy and Paul Knapp; and Freshman Attendants, Kristina Hodges, Brody Mann.
Sweetheart King Mychal Bush-King is the son of Mychal Bush-King and Stephanie Blackledge. This year, he has been involved in FCCLA, FCA, Student Council, Science Club, Business Club, Drama Club, Spanish Club, Pep Club, Varsity Club and Eta Lambda. He played football in the fall, is a member of the basketball team and plans on playing baseball and track in the spring. He has also enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
Sweetheart Queen Brittany Booth is the daughter of Calvin and Robin Booth. She has been involved in FCCLA, FFA, Student Council, Pep Club, Science Club, Spanish Club, and the Tall Girls Club. She is also listed on the honor roll.
Jamie Kennedy is the daughter of Steve and Linda Kennedy. Jamie is active in FCCLA and is on the honor roll.
Pierson Boose is the son of Robert and Teresa Boose. He is active in FCCLA, FFA, FCA, science club, pep club, business club, varsity club, and Eta Lambda. He played football in the fall and plans on playing baseball in the spring. Boose is listed on the high honor roll.
Morgan Lane is the daughter of Mark and Maura Lane. She has been involved in FCCLA, FFA, Student Council. science club, pep club, spanish club, eta lambda and is in the National Honor Society. She participates in track and was listed on the honor roll.
Kyle Golden is the son of Ben and Tina Golden and is active in FCCLA, science club, pep club, business club, varsity club, and Eta Lambda. He played football in the fall and plans to be a member of the track team in the spring.
Anna Smith is the daughter of Greg and Theresa Smith. She has been involved in FCCLA, FCA, Pep Club and Business Club. She also participated in the SIU and EIU Accounting Challenges. Anna is a four-year member of the cheerleading squad and has been listed on the honor roll.
Junior Attendant Courtney Blanchard is the daughter of Joe and Brena Blanchard. She is active in FCCLA, Pep Club, Student Council and business club. She is a member of the volleyball team, is the junior class secretary and is listed on the honor roll.
Austin Lewis is the son of J.R. and Julie Lewis. He takes p[art in FCCLA and FFA and is a member of the basketball and baseball teams.
Heather Hamilton is the daughter of Greg and Deanna Hamilton. This year, Heather has been active in FCCLA, FCA, Student Council, Science Club and Pep Club. She is a member of the tennis team and is the baseball statistician. She is the Junior Class Co-president and is listed on the honor roll.
Trent Tackitt is the son of Willie and Marsha Tackitt. He is involved with FCCLA, FFA, Pep Club and student council. He played football in the fall and plans to be a member of the track and baseball teams in the fall. He is also listed on the honor roll.
Stephanie Macarthy is the daughter of Kevin and Joe Macarthy. She has participated in FCCLA, Student Council, Science Club and Pep Club. Stephanie also played volleyball in the fall.
Brent Taylor is the son of Roy and Jenny Taylor. He is active in FCCLA and Pep Club. He is also listed on the honor roll and is on the basketball team. He is planning on playing baseball and track in the spring.
Sophomore attendant Mychal Atwood is the daughter of Bill and Robin Atwood. SWhe is involved in FCCLA, Student Council, Pep Club and played golf in the fall.
John Howe is the son of John and Tammy Howe. This year, John participated in FCCLA and FFA, and will play tennis in the spring.
Cassie Kennedy is the daughter of Steve and Linda Kennedy. She is active in FCCLA, Student Council Pep Club and Spanish Club. She is a member of the track and volleyball teams and is listed on the honor roll.
Paul Knapp is the son of Andy and Linda Knapp.He is involved in FCCLA and Pep Club and is on the basketball and baseball teams.
Freshman Attendant Kristina Hodges is the daughter of Debbie and the late Rick Hodges. She is active in FCCLA, FFA, FCA, Student Council, Science Club, Pep Club and Spanish Club. She is a member of the volleyball, basketball and softball teams and is listed on the honor roll.
Brody Mann is the son of Jeremy Erwin and Raven Vandyke. He has participated in FCCLA and was a member of the football team in the fall.
