Each year on the fourth Saturday in October, volunteers from coast to coast pull out their can-do spirits and vow to improve their communities on Make A Difference Day, a national day of service. On October 24th local Modern Woodmen of America members joined this nationwide effort.
Members of the Flora Modern Woodmen Camp 12350 made a difference by buying large print books for the Flora Public Library.
Modern Woodmen groups nationwide help their communities and individuals in need by delivering light bulbs and stationary to shut-ins, conducting winter clothing drives, donating books to local libraries and other activities.
Coordinated by local Modern Woodmen members, camps provide opportunities to take part in social activities and community service projects in their communities. Youth service clubs provide young Modern Woodmen members with opportunities to volunteer, be patriotic, learn new skills, make friends and have fun.
“On Make A Difference Day, our member can look forward to feeling good by doing good and being part of a nationally recognized event,” says Eddie Lamb, local Modern Woodmen contact person.

Members of the Xenia Modern Woodmen Camp 6535 made a difference by buying stamps and notecards for the residents to start a pen pal club with other homes.
