Leona M. Dow, 91, of Flora, passed away at 8:10 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Country Lane Boarding Home.

Leona was born on January 4, 1919, in Louisville, to Frank and Nelle (Krutsinger) Farris. On July 8, 1945, she was married to Everett S. Dow; he preceded her in death in 2002. Leona was a homemaker and retired from 27 years as a Clay County school teacher. She was a member of the Golden United Methodist Church and of the Clay County Retired Teachers Association. Leona enjoyed living at Country Lane.

Leona is survived by her sons, Robert Dow and wife Kaye of Xenia and James Dow and wife Lisa of Flora; grandchildren, Sarah, Cory, Shannon, Jay, Matthew, Kim, Brian, George and Jeremy; great-grandsons, Landon, Garrett, Lane, Gavin, Carson and Justin and sister, Jett Mueller of Ft. Meyers, Fla.

Preceding Leona in death were her parents, her husband, and her sisters, Marie Pohl, Joyce Stanfield and Betty Miller.

Funeral services for Leona M. Dow are planned for Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Frank and Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Rev. Doye Williams will be officiating. Interment will be at Golden Cemetery in Louisville. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at Frank and Bright Funeral Home.
