Stanley R. Armstrong, Sr., 89, of Xenia, passed away at 12 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at his home.

He was a farmer and oil field contractor, who enjoyed working.

Stanley was born September 17, 1920 in Wayne County to James W. and Carrie (Carneal) Armstrong, they preceded him in death. He would later marry Esther L. Felty on September 15, 1937, she preceded him in death on August 1, 1996.

Survivors include son Stanley Rex Armstrong, Jr., of Xenia, sister Rachel Burroughs, of Salem, grandsons Ronald Armstrong, of Kankakee, Ill., and Scott Armstrong, and wife Linda, of Logansport, Ind., granddaughters Teresa Amos, and husband Chuck, of Spring Hills, Kan., Cheryl Knowles, of Lees Summit, Mo., and Tina Turner, of Perkin, Ill., 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Others who preceded him death were sons Donald, James and Robert and grandson Gregory.
Services for Stanley were at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the Frank and Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Burial followed at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Xenia.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 at the funeral home.
