Jesse “Jay” Corey, 43, of Xenia, formerly of Sesser, passed away at the Clay County Hospital in Flora on January 28, 2010.
Jesse was born in Benton on June 18, 1966 to parents Joseph and Flora (Kilner) Corey. He was married to Sandra Bryan of Salem. He worked at Xenia Manufacturing.
Jay is survived by his children, Aleccia and Kyle Shaffer of St. Louis; his step-children Charles Stroup Jr. of Iuka, Cliff Stroup of St. Charles, Mo., James Stroup of Salem, Jared Stroup of Iuka and Samantha Stroup of Salem; his grandchildren Gabriel and Lillian Shaffer; his sisters, Sharon and Charles Baxter of Sesser and Lori and Robert Tisdale of Benton; his brothers, Rick Corey of Flint, Mich., Randy Corey of Pasadena, Texas; and Ron Corey of Topeka, Kan.; plus several nieces and nephews and his fiance, Amanda Powers of Xenia.
Preceding Jay in death were his parents.
A funeral service for Jesse “Jay” Corey was held at 7 p.m., on Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Brayfield – Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser. Brother Cliff Stroup and Mark Miller officiated.
