Thelma Duncan Hill, 80, of Shreveport, La., formerly of Salem, went home to be with the Lord on June 27, 2009 in Shreveport, La.

She was born on July 30, 1928 in Salem, to Virgil and Lillian (Crutchfield) Duncan.  In 1946, she met R.S. “Jack” Hill and they were married on September 1, 1946 at Grace Methodist Church in Salem.  She was a member of the Emmanual Baptist Church in Shreveport, La.  Thelma was a sweet and loving wife to Jack for 63 years.  With her big smile and her love of life, Thelma found joy in visiting with family and friends.  She was a wonderful homemaker, had a great personality, and enjoyed a good meal, company, and traveling with her husband.  She was beloved and will be missed.

She is survived by her husband: Jack Hill of Shreveport, La.; four children: Bruce Hill and wife Laura Baugh Hill of Orlando, Fla., Rodney Hill and wife Ginger Neal Hill of Houston, Texas, Lisa Hill Delancy and husband Russell Delancy of Bossier City, La., and Gina Hill Parker and husband Rob Parker of Shreveport, La.; 16 grandchildren: Blair Hill Landry and husband Chad, Zach Hill, Garrett Delancy, Kirby Hill, Jennie Delancy, Meggie Delancy, Ben Parker, Lisa Welsh Leider, Randy Welsh, Chelsea Baugh McClain, Eric Baugh, Haley Baugh, Robert Baugh, Michael Baugh, Evita Baugh and Jamie Baugh; five great-grandchildren: Gracie Landry, Luke Landry, Lindsay Leider, Mackenzie Leider and Brennen Welsh; one brother: Jack Duncan of Deland, Fla. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gene Duncan.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora. 

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. 

A memorial service will be held at a later date in her long-time residence of Shreveport, La. with Pastor Dennis Aaron of the Open Range Fellowship Church officiating.
