Francis David Lewis, 74, of Flora, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 8:01 p.m. at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Francis was born on August 5, 1935, in Clay County, to Noah and Lillian (Harmon) Lewis. On January 5, 1962, he was married to Marilyn Kitley in Flora. Lewis was a U.S. Army veteran and worked at World Color Press in Effingham and at the Flora International Shoe Factory.  He was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church and of Flora VFW Post #3999.

Lewis is survived by his wife, Marilyn Lewis of Flora; his children, Lee Lewis and wife Melissa of Flora, Cindy Linder and husband Steve of Greenfield, Ind., Barbara Releford of Harrodsburg, Ky., and Janet Heuerman and husband Rod of Teutopolis; by his brother, Glen Lewis and wife Lois of Louisville; his sisters, Laurel Carter of Louisville, Charity Thompson of Louisville, and Margaret Zink and husband Bill of Houston, Texas.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents, his infant daughter, and his brothers, Alva, Ronald, Lowell and Kenneth Lewis.

Funeral services for Francis David Lewis were held on Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Frank and Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Pastors Mark Canada and Tim Pearce officiated. A visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening at the same location. Interment was at Kneff Cemetery in Flora, with Military Honors.
