A.J. Crown Jr., 82, of Flora, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009 at his home.
He was born June 5, 1927 in Ball, Ark. To Abram J. Crown Sr. and Kathryn (Raley) Crown.
A.J. Was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a shear operator and foreman at Rockford Drop Forge in Rockford, Ill. After retirement he farmed.
He was a past board member Morris-Kennedy School District in Rockford, Ill., a past board member of the Rockford Christian Camp and a member of the Rockford American Legion and VFW.
A.J. Enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing and being with his family.
He is survived by children, Roger D. Crown and wife Colleen, of Rockford, Ill., Jeffrey J. Crown and wife Jennifer, of Rockford, Ill., Cindy G. Crown, of Rockford, Ill. and Brian S. Crown and wife Kimberly, of Rockford, Ill.; grandchildren, Meegan Crown, Ashley L. Dickerson and Ella Crown; sisters Pearl Mahaney, of Mount View Ark. and Lula Mae Watson, of Carbondale; brother David R. Crown, and wife Alice, of Evansville, Ind.; best friend Loren Dunigan and wife Davy, of Clay City and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Evelyn Gowen and brother, Robert E. Lee Crown.
Funeral services for A.J. were Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Pastor Brad Harris officiating. Military honors were presented at the end of the service. Burial followed in the Mount Zion (Foster Hill) Cemetery in Clay City.
A visitation began at 10 a.m. and lasted until the time of services.
