Dear Editor;
Some friends have ask why I am not writing letters to the Editor in this election year. So . . . I guess the old man will try in one more time. (A voice in the wilderness, no doubt)
Alexander Tyler was born in Scotland in 1747 and he became a well known professor of history. Along about 1790, while the United States of America was being formed, he wrote the following, “a Democracy can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves benefits from the public treasury . . . .they will always vote for the candidate promising the most. . . .it will always collapse over loose fiscal policy. . . and is followed by a Dictatorship”. Sound famlirar? WOW!
Various wise scholars have gleaned from Plato’s Republic, which was written about 400 years before Christ was born, that the apathy of voters will cause the downfall of a “Republic”. They have concluded that here in the U.S., we started out under bondage to Englad but the desire for freedom led to hope and courage (the Revolutionary war) then came great abundance which led to selfishness and contentment. . . then lack of interest and (just plain old not careing) .Now dependency follows (depending on the government for everything, does this sound familiar?) NOW, what follows that, BONDAGE AGAIN. Is this America today?
One great problem in modern day America is multi-cultureism. We invite other cultures from overseas and do not require that they become Americans. They do not have to speak English and the liberal left will not require them to learn it. In fact I head Senator Obama say, “Maybe we need to learn our children to speak Spanish.” That sounds to me like he wants us to be like them instead of “them” being like us. I understand that we have about 13 million illegal aliens inthe U.S. and the census bureau says that by 2050 there will be 420 million. When there gets to be more of “them” that there is of “us”, wat will we be then?
I wonder if the readers have noticed the absence of Illinois highway maintenance trucks on the roads. It is because this state is bankrupt. Why? Research by FAIR, reveals that illegal aliens cost Illinois taxpayers $3.5 billion each year. . . for education, health care and incarceration. Just go on the computer to www.fairus.org. Good Grief. . . what kind of morons have we got running this country! Now beside all this, lawmakers in Springfield have enacted two laws, HB1743 amd 1744 which prohibit employers from taking part in any kind of citizenship verification program. ???????
I am not able to see the justice in taking taxpayer money and building Mosques ( a room for Muslim prayer) in our airports and by contrast making a little boy leave the classroom because his T-shirt has “Jesus loves me” written on it. Where is the ACLU on that one?
Now who will I not vote for? It will not be Brak Obama for fear some of Reverand (?) Wrights sermons might have rubbed off on him. I heard Wright condemn America for the use of the Atomic bomb on Japan. If we had not rev. you might be speaking Japanese today. . . or might not be here at all. Also I heard Obama say that he would not want his daughter to be burdened with an unwanted baby. That means that he would have the babys life taken.
Now I would like to ask a question to any Police Officer who might read this. Considering who Obama has buddied around with these past years. . . could he serve as an officer of the law, even in little ol Clay County? I doubt it.
Also Senator Biden said, “I led the fight to defeat Judge Bork from the supreme Court . . . thank God . . . . or Roe v Wade would be gone by now.
Well . . . there is lots of hay in that stack but as the old saying goes. . “that’s enough hay down for this ol Hoss.”
