Junior high softball and baseball
With regional tournament play coming up, Pontiac and Makayla Metz were able to fine tune some things in an 8-0 win over Flanagan in junior high softball on Tuesday.
Metz allowed one hit and two walks in a seven-inning outing. She struck out 14.
Flanagan's Kortney Harms fanned four and gave up six hits and two walks for Flanagan. Cheyenne Burns also struck out four while giving up two hits in relief.
The Warriors finally got to Harms in the third inning for two runs. PJHS plated three in the fourth and added three runs in the seventh.
Mackenzie Coates led the Pontiac offense with two hits, including a home run, and three runs batted in. Bailee Myers had a double, single and run batted in and Riuley Foster collected two hits and an RBI. Adriann Sutton had a hit and RBI and Metz added a base knock.
Raegan Montello had the lone Flanagan base hit.
Haylie Moss recorded a no-hitter as Pontiac won the “B” 9-1. The Warriors only managed two hits as Olivia Lindsay and Addisyn McKinney each singled.
Moss struck out four in her three innings.
After splitting games on Saturday, Pontiac lost a 9-2 decision to Normal Chiddix On Tuesday.
Ethan Gonder was the top hitter and pitched for PJHS.
Pontiac smacked Olympia 11-1 as Logan Barnett and Kerr Bauman each allowed one hit on Saturday. Barnett fanned seven and Baumann struck out four. Mateo Casillas had a hit and four runs batted in.
OTTAWA — Marquette overwhelmed Saunemin 12-1 on Tuesday. The Eagles scored first with a run in the top of the first inning. They got nothing afterward.
Tyler Frauli doubled to drive in Noah Maloney in the first.
Zachariah Landstrom took the loss. Timmy Logan also pitched.
