Tara Gambon and Greg Hartsfield paced Orion's cross country team on Monday, Oct. 1, at the Elmwood-Brimfield Invitational at Maple Lane Country Club, Elmwood.
Gambon finished 41st in the girls' race with a time of 21 minutes, 55 seconds, while Hartsfield was 43rd among the boys with a clocking of 17:57.
Besides Gambon, Charger girls scoring were Loren Jackson, 98th, 24:49; Hannah Blaser, 111th, 26:13; Jenni Fowler, 113th, 26:16; and Kyndall Wallarab, 126th, 27:18.
Also competing were Jasmine Wise, 134th, 28:24, and Brooke Veyette, 137th, 28:48.
Chargers in the boys' race included Dakota Smith, 112th, 20:18, and Dolan Cherry, 164th, 24:20.
Canton topped the girls' standings with 68 ponts. Area teams included Monmouth-Roseville, third, 92; Macomb, fourth, 119; Sherrard, eighth, 215; Kewanee, 11th, 303; Rockridge, 14th, 346; and Orion, 15th, 386.
Elmwood-Brimfield won the boys' race with 52 points. Teams from the area were Mon-Rose, third, 119; Macomb, fifth, 156; Sherrard, sixth, 169; Rockridge, seventh, 214; and Kewanee, 16th, 423.
Orion did not have enough boys for a team score.
