The Clay City Lady Wolves repeated as champions of the Midland Trail Conference tournament.

The tournament began Thursday when the Lady Wolves took on Webber and Grayville.

In the opening match, Clay City used an 11-0 run to start the second set with Megan Hance at serve to roll to a 25-13 and 25-7 win.

Paige Spitzner had 1 dig, 5 kills, 3 blocks, 1 assist; Maddie Craig had 3 kills, 3 blocks, 1 assist; Olivia Bangert had 2 aces, 2 digs; Megan Hance had 7 aces, 1 kill, 15 assists; Macy Anderson had 1 ace; Breana Farris had 1 kill, 1 block; Macy Hance had 1 ace, 2 digs, 11 kills, 1 assist; Tori Matanich 2 digs, 3 kills.

The second match of the night saw the Wolves face an unexpected challenge from the Grayville Bison.

A relatively young squad took it to the Lady Wolves and was able to hang tough, but Clay City came away with a 25-20 and 25-20 win.

Friday night, the Wolves opened the evening taking on Wayne City.  Clay City rolled through the match taking a 25-12 and 25-8 win.

In the final match of the tournament, the Lady Wolves took on Woodlawn and the match didn’t get off to a good start.

The Cardinals claimed the first set 25-22. Coach Harvel challenged her team and they came out and won the next two sets 25-23 and 25-13.

Monday night, the Lady Wolves wrapped up the regular season championship with a 25-4 and 25-9 win over Odin.
